John at one phase in his career was a Flying Instructor and taught many people to fly an
Aircraft.
Colin Trott had an operation on his leg in 33rd General Hospital in Hong Kong and after a
few days at Kia Tak John Flew from Sha Tin to pick him up in the dual control Auster. They took off from Kia Tak and after clearing the Hills that surround Hong Kong reached the flat landscape John invited Colin to take control. With his left hand on the throttle and his right on the joy stick he nervously tried to fly the Auster. It was only after what seemed a few seconds that John had to retake control, deciding that to teach the Flight Cook how to fly an Auster was “A bridge too Far”!
